Start with three workflows
Inspections, hazard reporting, and permits to work generate the majority of daily safety data in most operations. Digitize these three first. Each one has a clear trigger, a clear owner, and a record your auditors already ask for — which means adoption is enforceable and value is immediate.
Make the dashboard answer management questions
A KPI dashboard earns its place when a plant manager can answer three questions in ten seconds: what is overdue, what is trending wrong, and who owns the fix. If the dashboard cannot answer those, it is a report with better colors.
Keep the audit trail honest
Digital records are only stronger than paper if timestamps, approvals, and edits are traceable. Configure this from day one; retrofitting integrity is far harder than building it in.
